Learn Foundational AI Engineering Skills at Bootcamp

Go beyond prompting, AI tools, and disconnected tutorials. The AI Engineering Bootcamp helps software engineers, technical professionals, and data scientists develop the practical skills to build, evaluate, and deploy AI applications.

Over 5 weeks, you'll work through modern AI engineering patterns, from RAG and agents to evaluations and production deployments. Learn by building a real project, with live instruction, support, and accountability, and by applying what you learn alongside a community of technical builders.

Why Engineers and Data Scientists Choose AI Makerspace

You already know how to solve technical problems. But building AI applications introduces a different set of challenges. How do you work with LLMs, design agentic systems, manage context, evaluate outputs, and move beyond a promising prototype?

More tutorials, prompt tricks, and experimenting with AI tools only take you so far. You want hands-on experience with the frameworks, workflows, and engineering decisions that go into building working AI applications.

At AI Makerspace, learning happens through building, shipping, and sharing. You'll develop practical skills through hands-on projects, learn from production-AI-experienced instructors, and become part of a community of people working through similar challenges.

Whether you're a software engineer expanding your skill set, a data scientist moving beyond notebooks, or a technical professional ready to take on AI projects, the Bootcamp gives you a structured way to develop technical AI engineering skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

What You'll Learn

What will I learn in the AI Engineering Bootcamp?

You’ll learn the core concepts and code behind modern AI engineering, including RAG, agents, agentic search, context engineering, and evaluations. You’ll also learn how these patterns work together to build useful AI applications.

What will I build in AI Engineering Bootcamp?

A standard macbook pro is recommended. 16 GB of VRAM or unified memory is the minimum recommended for the ability to run LLMs locally, safely, and privately. More VRAM can handle bigger models!

Does the Bootcamp cover production AI?

Yes. The focus is on understanding the engineering patterns behind AI applications and building toward production-grade prototypes. You’ll learn how to evaluate AI systems, make context and architecture decisions, and build applications that can move beyond a demo.

What topics of AI engineering are covered in AI Engineering Bootcamp?

The curriculum covers AI engineering fundamentals, RAG, LLM applications, agent harnesses, agentic search, context engineering, agent memory, and evaluations. You’ll also work with open-source-first tools and learn how to make practical engineering decisions without getting locked into a single vendor.

Onboarding

What’s the difference between the AI Engineering Bootcamp and the AI FDE Certification?

The AI Engineering Bootcamp teaches you technical skills around how to build AI applications from the ground up. It’s designed for people who want to develop practical AI engineering skills, understand the tools and patterns behind modern AI systems, and learn by building projects of their own.

The AI FDE Certification is for software engineers who are ready to apply those skills to real problems at work. It focuses on building AI within an organization’s existing systems, data, teams, and constraints, taking a use case from discovery and prototyping toward production.

In short, the Bootcamp helps you learn to build AI. The AI FDE Certification helps you build AI at work. It comes with the engineering judgment, collaboration, constraints, and problem-solving experience needed to deliver solutions in a real-world environment.

What kind of hardware will I need?

A standard macbook pro is recommended. 16 GB of VRAM or unified memory is the minimum recommended for the ability to run LLMs locally, safely, and privately. More VRAM can handle bigger models!

What kind of software environment will need to be setup?

We recommend a visual Interactive Development Environment like Cursor, and setting this up is something that each person going through the training must do on your company hardware prior to kickoff

Why are leading companies investing in AI professional development instead of simply hiring AI talent?

Because the AI advantage will not come from hiring a handful of AI experts, it will come from building AI capability across the teams already closest to the business.

The AI FDE Certification helps organizations turn experienced engineers into production-ready AI builders who can identify opportunities, design solutions, and ship real AI systems inside their existing environment.

Instead of creating dependency on outside vendors or a small group of specialists, companies develop internal AI champions like you who understand their systems, customers, and business goals.

Hardware Requirements and Time Commitment

Recommended hardware to run LLMs

A standard MacBook Pro is recommended. 16 GB of VRAM or unified memory is the minimum recommended for the ability to run LLMs locally, safely, and privately. More VRAM can handle bigger models!

Typical training timelines

The AI Engineering Bootcamp is a 6-week program, in which students are encouraged to show up for live instruction, turn in assignments, and will gain support on what they're building.

All training follows our process and proven curriculum using today's building blocks of AI engineering.

Time per module

Expect 2-3 hours in class (1 lecture, 1-2 hours working with one another and experts), and another 1-5 hours of solo working through the assignments given each week.

Time for capstone project

This project, which is typically your first AI deployment with us, takes from 4-20 hours. You may even get the chance to demo it in front of the entire cohort, community, and public at the end of the bootcamp in our Demo Day contest.

Total time commitment

Total = 40-80 hours to build your own foundational AI skills and a flagship application

AI Forward-Deployed Engineering Certification Payment Terms

The AI Engineering Bootcamp Pricing

Individual seats for this certification are $3,000, and small teams or groups are also welcome to begin the journey together.

A payment for each registrant and trainee is due upfront and in full to join the cohort and begin the certification and work.

The AI Engineering Bootcamp is run through Maven to keep all of your payments, content, training dates, and 1:1s in one place.

Are discounts available for groups, returning students or graduates?

There are no discounts for returning graduates or students at this time, and you're welcome to come build your idea, entrepreneurial dream, or learn AI engineering with us.

Ask us about a group discount or custom invoice if you're a past student, client, or sending a larger team.

Security Concerns

Will the applications I build be production-ready and secure?

Production readiness of what you build is guaranteed if you stick with the course and complete all the challenges.

Security constraints in real-world organizations are a nuanced thing, especially considering the emerging state of the off-the-shelf security of new tooling as it arises.

That's why we have the Forward-Deployed Engineering Certification to build AI at work.

What if I am a no-media company and I want non-disclosure of any information discussed with any AI Makerspace staff?

We are well-versed in working with enterprise clients, including in sensitive and highly-regulated industries. Although we would prefer to showcase you as a client, we will always respect your privacy publicly and flow down terms within your NDAs to our instructional staff internally.

Ismael Gonzalez

I had to dedicate time. I had to present two projects per week. I had to present those projects like I was an expert. As projects and challenges proceeded, I started gaining more confidence. I can now explain to anyone who asks me how to build AI applications what to do. If you want to go through the 10 hardest weeks of your life, the return on investment for that will be huge.

Germee Ronirose

Loved the course! It was hard and challenging, but it gave me clarity on what I need to do next. The support from the community is amazing, and what makes this course different from the rest. The team does their best to make sure every student is successful.

I want to thank Dr. Greg, The Wiz, and the entire AIM team. None of my projects like PromptLab and OpenEvals would have been possible without the course and the Build, Ship, and Share mentality. Simply sharing what I’ve built on X helped the framework gain visibility from thought leaders in the Vercel AI SDK and Typescript developer communities, and opened doors for new opportunities. Taking this class has truly changed my life.

The AI Engineer Class provided me with an exceptional learning experience that greatly enhanced my understanding of artificial intelligence and its practical applications. The course content was well-structured, engaging, and delivered by knowledgeable instructors who were passionate about the subject matter. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to gain valuable skills in the field of AI.
